There are a lot of domain extensions these days, but probably the most common one, is of course the legendary dot com.
Over 70% of all domain names, are dot com’s, so people naturally try .com for domains they aren’t 100% sure of, if it’s international.
The other 2 most common domain extensions, are dot net, and dot org.
These are all domain extensions that can be registered by anyone. – Although .com are meant for “commercial” websites, .net are meant for websites, and .org really are only for non-organizations.
But hey? – Is domainextensions.org an organization? No way! Non-profit? – Take a guess…
So don’t worry, if your dot com is not availiable, get .net or .org.
If none of them are availiable as well, check out the useful prefixes you might include over here: Domain prefixes
Other quite common domain extensions are:
.info – For info-based websites. ( We don’t like these, as they look kind of bad, as well as they tend to rank lower in the search engines.) – Read more about search engine optimization here: The iMarketingBlog
.name – This is used for private persions only, and many people like to have an email with their name. It’s also probably the cheapest one. – But rank worse as well.
.biz – This is meant to be used for online businesses, but online businesses usually try to get a .com for branding purposes, as well as it looks better.
.Ws – Website. This can really be used for anything. We think it will be a lot more popular in the future, you can find out why over at: FreedomWS Or watch the film clip here:(Recommended) Dot WS Filmclip.
If you plan on profiting on this one we would also recommend taking a visit to profitsystems.ws.
